The immensely popular Sandstone Point Hotel and BIG4 holiday resort will undergo exciting upgrades, some planned open in a matter of weeks.
By the September school holidays, Sandstone Point Holiday Resort will be home to a second heated pool, swim-up bar and jacuzzi spa.
The improvements will be followed by all new Eco Villas and a mini golf course opening later in the year.
The hotel will also see major new facilities; its Oyster Shed fish and chippery has been reimagined into a Bali-style beach club.
The company said the Oyster Shed Beach Club would continue to offer fresh seafood and stunning views of the Pumicestone Passage, with the addition of daytime DJs, more cocktails and new facilities, expected to open later this year.
The venue is owned by the Comiskey Group, which also built and operates Eatons Hill Hotel, Samford Hotel and the Beachmere Hotel.
Director Rob Comiskey said he was excited to see visitors get even more out of their experience at the hotel and resort.
“This new round of upgrades to the resort will bring added value for the adults,” Mr Comiskey said.
“We are seen as a kids’ paradise with so much for them to do.
“Whilst all are welcome, the new pool, swim-up bar and spa were designed with adults in mind.
“The new beach club at Sandstone Point Hotel is being developed simply because the original Oyster Shed Fish and Chippery was just not big enough … the Oyster Shed Beach Club has a much bigger footprint with a larger bar, menu offering and dining space.”
The Comiskey Group has also lodged an application for a hotel and recreation centre in Strathpine, and Dakabin Hotel has recently been approved with construction starting in the near future.
The group has announced a new project on the Sunshine Coast, Coochin Fields, the largest privately-owned festival site in Australia.
More recently the Comiskey Group announced Aura Hotel to open in late 2024 in Australia’s largest master planned community Stockland Aura, which will feature the Coast’s largest entertainment venue.
Mr Comiskey said when Sandstone Point was conceived, many people said the concept would not work so far from Brisbane city, but thousands now flocked there for concerts and events year-round.
“The $80 million investment into our two properties at Sandstone Point and the ongoing investment in entertainment has helped our business thrive, as well as increase regional visitation, positively impacting the local economy,” Mr Comiskey said.
