Premier Redcliffe hotel Mon Komo has been earmarked for a multimillion-dollar renovation following its takeover today by its new owners.
Australia’s oldest private property developer Lewis Land Group today announced it had finalised details for the acquisition of the Mon Komo Hotel, making it the first pub takeover in Queensland during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The group is best known for the successful Belvedere Hotel in Woody Point.
Lewis Land Group acquired the award-winning Mon Komo Hotel for an undisclosed amount in late 2019 with the take-over becoming official this week.
They revealed they had plans for a multimillion dollar renovation and revival by mid-2021.
Much loved by locals and visitors alike, the waterfront hotel, located on Marine Parade, boasts numerous bars, dining options, as well as conference, meeting and wedding facilities.
Lewis Land Group Queensland Regional Manager Leisure Chris Allison said the investment showed confidence in Redcliffe’s economy, even in the face of COVID-19.
“By officially taking over the Mon Komo Hotel, we are strengthening our commitment to the Redcliffe community,” Mr Allison said.
“We’ve been part of the local community for years and we can see the potential growth the Redcliffe Peninsula offers.
“If there is one thing the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us, it’s that locals are dining within their own areas now more than ever before.
“It has highlighted how important pub culture is, especially during a time of stress and negativity for Australians.
“The local pub has been and will return to become one of the community’s key social meeting points.”
He said the group intended to continue its successful track record of reviving large venues by applying its successful formula to the Mon Komo Hotel.
“We are aiming to replicate the success and community support we have achieved for The Belvedere at Mon Komo.
“The Group has a solid track record of reviving local venues, by not only focusing on providing great food, staff and service, but also becoming closer with the community.”
The acquisition will make the Group one of the largest employers in the area, employing up to 200 people at its two venues.
