Police discovered a hoard of weapons including a homemade handgun, taser and flick knives inside the home of a Redcliffe chef during a recent raid.
Dylan Lee Crossley was charged with 10 offences as a result of the raid, which took place on December 21.
During the raid police found a homemade handgun capable of firing a single shot, two flick knives, a taser (which was ordered online), a telescopic baton in his car and multiple rounds of ammunition.
A quantity of cocaine and LSD along with drug utensils were also found during the search.
He pleaded guilty to all charges in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.
His lawyer Farah Haddad told the court Crossley collected weapons as a hobby and had a special interest in knives.
Magistrate Mark Bucknall called Crossley’s excuse “bullshit”.
“There is nothing hobby about this,” Magistrate Bucknall said.
Magistrate Bucknall said he had never seen so many cases involving shootings or people in possession of firearms in Redcliffe as he had in the past six months.
“Each and every one of them was connected with the drug trade and I can’t help but think that you are tied up in that,” he said.

“Don’t come along here and expect me to suck up that handguns and taser devices are a hobby – I know why he had these sort of things – there is no good reason why anyone would possess these types of weapons.”
Crossley was sentenced to a 15 months probation order and ordered to complete 60 hours of unpaid community service.
“You are extremely fortunate I am not going to sentence you to imprisonment today, a repeat performance will see you go to jail,” Magistrate Bucknall said.
A conviction was recorded.
