Bal was arrested on January 11 after police allegedly spotted him driving a stolen black Audi S5 at high speeds through Caboolture suburbs.

After a pursuit, which involved Polair, Bal was arrested at Burkeley Court and charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police, burglary and possess dangerous drugs.

The court heard Bal had a lengthy criminal history including an incident in 2019 where he was sentenced to 17 months imprisonment for possessing a shortened firearm in public, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property.

On Tuesday Bal was not impressed with the duty lawyer’s efforts and decided to represent himself in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.

Bal also decided not to apply for bail.

The matter was adjourned until Wednesday.

It was mentioned briefly today by the duty lawyer. No application for bail was made and the matter was adjourned until February 16.
