A 22-year-old has escaped any fines or convictions after he was busted with dangerous drugs during a late night drive.
Kallangur man Lachlan Thomas Fleming was caught with Xanax tablets and cocaine after police stopped him at Chermside.
He pleaded guilty at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Monday to one count of possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence and a second charge of possessing dangerous drugs.
The court heard Fleming’s car was intercepted at 1.45am earlier this year with police subsequently searching the vehicle.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Graham Turner told the court two Xanax tablets were found in the centre console as well as a clip seal bag of white powder which Fleming admitted was cocaine.
The court was told the 22-year-old was keen to keep his job after being out of work since January.
His lawyer also mentioned the former Dakabin State High student was looking to study a business degree in the future.
“He has strayed off the path, so to speak, but he seems to be back on track,” she said.
“He’s now working five days a week.”
Magistrate Annette Hennessy said she took into account Fleming’s early plea of guilty and his eligibility for drug diversion.
He was placed on a good behaviour bond with no conviction recorded.
“The bond runs for four months, subject to attending drug diversion,” Ms Hennessy said.
“If you fail to attend drug diversion or commit any other offences in the next four months you are required to pay a $500 recognisance.”
