Kallangur mum jailed for stealing close to $1000 worth of fuel

A 32-year-old mum has been jailed after stealing close to $1000 worth of fuel and other items in a year-long crime spree.

A Kallangur mum has been jailed after pleading guilty to more than 20 charges including multiple fuel drives off, stealing, drug possession and possession of knives in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.

Skye Jasmine Harling, 32, who was in custody after being earlier sentenced to four months for multiple failure to appear charges, appeared in court via video link.

Documents, supplied to the court, detailed how Harling stole close to $1000 worth of fuel from fuel stations across Murrumba Downs, Kallangur, Mango Hill, Aspley, Clontarf and Mango Hill between November 2019 and September 2020.

Harling wasn’t just charged with stealing fuel. On January 8, 2020 Harling also stole two cheesecakes, two pizzas and two boxes of chocolates, valued at $30, from the Spar at Kallangur.

On May 28 police conducting patrols, near a known drug supplier’s house, spotted Harling’s car leaving the Bald Hills address.

Police intercepted the vehicle and conducted a search.

Court documents detailed that police found two clip seal bags containing ice along with a long distance knife, a large 35cm kitchen knife and 15cm knife attached to a 1.5m metal hiking pole hidden in the car.

Harling told police she had the knives “in case someone tries to attack me”.

Harling had already served 19 days in custody after her four month sentence for failing to appear was completed.

Magistrate Mark Bucknall handed down a 12 months sentence and set a parole release date for March 1, 2021.
