An alleged drug trafficker accused of using schoolchildren in his ploy will spend Christmas in a jail cell.
Rowan Mark Newton Kingwill, 28, was denied bail in Caboolture Magistrates Court today, charged with drug trafficking in Burpengary between January 9 and November 22, 2020.
The court heard there could be more charges to come as police extracted data from a mobile phone which Kingwill, a qualified roof tiler, had initially smashed on the ground during a police search.
The court heard the Burpengary man, who had denied ownership of the phone, was allegedly going to schools and recruiting children to take part in his drug trafficking scheme.
“He was recruiting vulnerable young persons in the community,” prosecution said.
Kingwill — through his defence lawyer — also denied ownership of Bandidos material allegedly found at the home he was at during the search.
Kingwill was denied bail and will remain in custody until his next court appearance on February 22, 2021.
