A labourer has been placed on nine months’ probation and given a community service order after drunkenly assaulting four police officers north of Brisbane.
James Douglas Cridley appeared in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Friday, June 29 and pleaded guilty after assaulting two police officers while drunk at Banyo on October 15, 2020.
On August 4 last year he also assaulted two other police.
His lawyer, Jerry Elmore, said unemployment, depression, alcoholism and a self-harm attempt had all contributed to Cridley’s offending.
Police prosecutor, Sergeant Mitchelson, said something had “gone wrong’’ for Cridley’s traffic and criminal record to be so extensive by the age of 23, when he committed the first of the assaults.
Mr Elmore said Cridley, a labourer from Banyo who wanted to transition into the IT field, was embarrassed about his actions.
Cridley was also sentenced for driving without a licence while disqualified by court order and driving under the influence.
Magistrate Raelene Ellis disqualified him from driving for three years for those offences.
