A disabled pensioner faced court north of Brisbane for 261 charges of fraudulently obtaining approximately $1.4 million from medical and health insurance claims over seven years, after flaunting her luxurious overseas trips on social media.
Caboolture woman Jeanalle Barbara Patrick, 54, faced Caboolture Court on Wednesday June 29, 2022, hunched over with a walking stick, where her 261 charges were adjourned for a month.
Ms Patrick was crying while exiting court and declined to tell the media how she was pleading.
Moreton detectives allege Ms Patrick obtained approximately $1.4 million under fraudulent circumstances from medical and health insurance claims with multiple insurance agencies, including a crisis care insurance claim and settlement, between 2015 and June 2022.
Ms Patrick’s lawyer told the court they needed time to gather documents and evidence, and the matter was adjourned to Caboolture Court until Friday, July 29, 2022.
The court heard they were waiting on documents from Suncorp Insurance, The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital, Aussie Home Loans, and the Commonwealth Bank.
Court documents have revealed one of the more substantial charges was allegedly fraudulently obtaining a sum of $300,000 for herself. This is only one of the 261 charges leveraged at the disabled pensioner.
It now be revealed that while allegedly committing these crimes, Ms Patrick was also busy with various overseas trips.
The disabled pensioner has hundreds of images on her social media of luxurious overseas travel pictures since 2017, two years after police allege the activity began.
All smiles, no walking stick, and sporting picture perfect posture Ms Patrick got some travelling in before the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic hit.
In December 2017 she took her mother, who isn’t accused of any wrongdoing, on a Christmas trip to America and Canada, with stops made at Las Vegas and Niagara Falls.
Then in November 2019 they were off again and enjoyed some time in Singapore, a travel destination known for modern luxury.
