The manager of a Narangba woman who suffered life threatening burns in a house fire last week has recalled the moment she realised why her loyal staffer did not arrive at work that day.
Mother of three Angela Henson remains in an induced coma after suffering significant burns when her house went up in flames Friday morning.
Ms Henson’s employer, Almikleen Home Services manager Lauren Harrison, said she realised something was wrong early that day.
“She didn’t turn up to work on Friday and that was very out of character,” Ms Harrison said.
“I was calling her and it was going to voicemail and thought it was strange.
“She didn't turn up for another job and it didn’t feel right.
“I tried to call Bronson and his phone went voicemail to.
“She doesn't live far from here so I did drive and then I saw the police tape, the fire, the smoke marks on the house.”
At 3.30am that morning, Ms Henson and partner Bronson Buckley’s Prosperity St home was the sight of an inferno, suspected to have started in the rear of the home by an appliance.
Neighbours were sent into a panic as fire crews battled for four hours to bring the blaze under control, although it destroyed the house to its brickwork.
Ms Henson remains in an induced coma inside the ICU of the Royal Brisbane and Woman’s Hospital, while Mr Buckley suffered burns to a significant percentage of his body — thankfully, however, their three children Tyler, Paige and Meisha escaped unharmed.
“She’s burnt that badly, she’s going to have a really hard recovery,” Ms Harrison said.
“She might not be back at work ever.”
To support the family, Ms Harrison has launched a GoFundMe campaign.
It has so far raised more than $4500.
“All her clients love her so much, she’s a very kind and caring person.
“I wanted to show her the same care she shows others in her work
“It's lovely people are helping in every way they can.”
Another Narangba mother has rallied on Facebook to organise clothes and essential items for the family.
Investigations into the fire are ongoing.
