Former Tasmanian politician Adam Richard Brooks has appeared in a Queensland court for a second time facing six new charges after being arrested north of Brisbane two weeks ago.

Mr Brooks, 45, appeared in Redcliffe Magistrates Court, charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a category H weapon, unauthorised possession of explosives and dealing with identity items.

Six new charges including, breach of bail and multiple counts of possessing tainted property were also put before the court on June 10.

Mr Brooks’ lawyer Brendan Beavon said the new charges had arisen out of the search conducted by police on May 12, with the exception of the breach of bail, at a Sutton St, Redcliffe, address.

The court heard the breach of bail charge was in relation to Mr Brooks allegedly failing to meet his reporting conditions.

It is understood Mr Brooks is in Queensland seeking assistance for his mental health.

No plea was required and the matter was adjourned until June 23 so submissions could be made.
