Emergency services officers are at the scene of a crash which has wiped out power on parts of Bribie Island this morning.

Power was off in streets near a crash which occurred just after 5.20am on Gidya Ave at Bongaree.

Police were at the scene and QFES said powerlines fell on a car after another vehicle hit a powerline.

QFES and Energex officers were working to remove a person in one of the cars while the power lines were cleared from the road.

Gidya Ave is one of the main roads connecting Benabrow Ave, which connects to the mainland.

It was unknown how long it would take to restore power in the area but Energex said a pole had to be replaced and it may take hours.
