Drink drivers sentenced in Caboolture court

A string of drivers who dared go behind the wheel after too many drinks have been sentenced in Caboolture Magistrates Court, including one father who crashed his vehicle into a fire pit. SEE THE LIST HERE.

Caboolture Magistrates Court saw its fair share of drink drivers come through its doors this week. Here’s the details on who was caught behind the wheel when they should have walked.

Father of four Te Pou Parangi, 39, said he had “over celebrated” securing a home loan on April 18 when he was charged with driving under the influence of liquor. The court heard he crashed his car into a fire pit while driving to buy more liquor, before being found by police on a road in Beachmere around 10.15pm. He clocked a BAC of 0.154 per cent. He pleaded guilty and was fined $1050 and disqualified from driving for seven months.

Melinda Jane D’Arx, of Clifton, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of liquor at Woodford on June 16. The court heard she had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.160 per cent when she was stopped by police around 2.30pm and that she had similar offences in 2014 and 2018. She was fined $1050 and disqualified from driving for 10 months.

Jasmine Eve Shaw was driving in Caboolture South when she was stopped by police on December 25. The court heard she clocked a BAC of 0.09 per cent when she was found by police after crashing her car. She was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Daniel John Sandy pleaded guilty to drink driving with BAC of 0.140 per cent. The court heard he was caught by police on July 3 at Bongaree. The court heard police could smell the liquor in his car, and Sandy admitted to drinking a mix of whisky, gin and vodka. The court heard he had six previous convictions for drink driving. He was fined $850 and disqualified from driving for eight months.

Police doing mobile patrols along Ironbark Dr, Woodford around 8.50pm June 17 found Nicholas Shaun Casey, who they charged with drink driving after he recorded a BAC of 0.064 per cent. The court heard he had five schooners at the D’Agular Hotel before driving. He pleaded guilty to the offence and was disqualified from driving for one month and fined $350.
