COUNCILLOR Adam Hain recently dubbed Caboolture “the comeback kid” after calculating more that $1 billion of investment was earmarked for the region.
Just north of Brisbane, Caboolture is one of southeast Queensland’s fastest growing regions with a variety of lifestyle and residential projects on their way.
We’ve listed seven of the biggest projects to look out for that will shape 2019 and beyond.
North Harbour Marina
North Harbour development has finished developing 680 of 1600 lots in the residential component and has earmarked works for multiple and green spaces to start in 2019.
Work is underway for $3 million Heritage Precinct around the heritage-listed “Moray Fields” homestead site, which was the first settlement in the area dating back to 1861.
But the most exciting prospect is what will happen with the marina and canal aspect of the development.
Moreton Bay Regional Council agreed to appeal to the State government to have it recognised as a Priority Development Area (PDA), which would fast track the site.
The 300-berth marina is likely to include a marina village, neighbourhood shopping centre, promenades, dining, and 500 dry boat stacker.
The Big Fish Travel Centre
Construction of Stage 2 is expected to start later this year and will have a full-line supermarket, a smaller supermarket, 900sq m of specialty shops, a veterinary surgery, gymnasium or indoor sport and recreation centre and 345 carparking spaces.
Axis has begun early planning on the final instalment of the centre, which is approved for child care, medical services, accommodation and trade and service-related uses.
Moreton Bay Regional Council recently spent $8 million upgrading the intersection at Pumicestone Rd and Cottrill Rd, which will help link The Big Fish Travel Centre to the rest of Caboolture.
Central Springs
With $400 million being piled into the brand new suburb, it is one of the largest master-planned communities in the Moreton Bay Region.
QM Properties is expected to open a new $1 million park — just months after Riverbank completed a similarly priced green space in the area.
It will feature a shopping centre and a five-hectare lake.
RSL Care Fernhill
The $48 million redevelopment works for RSL Care Fernhill at 103 King St, Caboolture have begun.
The multi-storey development is the first of its kind in the region and will be home to 162 residents and include state-of-the-art green spaces.
The residential aspect is due to be complete in 2020, while the rest of the project including underground parking and retail space, will be done over the next 10 years.
Caboolture to Wamuran Rail Trail
It will reimagine 10.5km of historic rail lines and create a recreational foot paths for cyclists, hikers and tourists.
The track will feature bridges, culverts and underpasses that showcase the semirural lifestyle of the region as it weaves through some of the more picturesque landscapes.
Stage three is due to be complete in 2020.
James St and Matthew Tce revamp
The space was designed with future investment in mind and Moreton Bay Regional Council hopes that will come off the back of successful Food Trucks on the Village Green fortnightly event.
Councillor Adam Hain said it “has been enthusiastically embraced by locals, adding a new sense of vibrancy to our city streets and helping to stimulate the night time economy”.
Morayfield Health Hub
The medical centre offers a dental clinic, full service radiology clinic, pathology laboratory and collection centre, mental health hub, allied health and rehabilitation space and within a few months a new childcare centre.
It is also hosting a University of the Sunshine Coast clinical trial that will bring $5 million in research funds.
