Record levels of infrastructure set for Caboolture area - including $6.5 million for school intersection

ONE growing neighbourhood north of Brisbane is to get a record $80 million boost to infrastructure.

CABOOLTURE will soon be more connected with new roads and development designated for the region.

Moreton Bay Regional Councillor Adam Hain (Div3) said record levels of infrastructure around the Pumicestone Rd catchment was helping bring a burgeoning new community.

“The new school (Pumicestone State School) created the ability for council to leverage funding for the Cottrill Rd cut through. Stage one is complete and a $6.5 million upgrade of the intersection outside Pumicestone State School will also be delivered later this year,” Cr Hain said.

“Previously, neighbourhoods in this area have been physically disconnected. However, that changes with the new road link, that now connects Cottrill Rd with Pumicestone Rd.”

He said Ardrossan Rd would then cut through to Elof Rd, creating a link with the Brown St Bridge and ultimately the hospital, at an estimated $4 million. This would save time for emergency services in the area and be a link for pedestrians, motorists and buses.

Work will start next month on a new, private development by the Big Fish Tavern. It will include childcare, shopping and medical facilities.

“This development will provide sewer and water up the remainder of Pumicestone Rd, to the value of $4.8 million and a new set of lights at Bigmor Dr worth $1.2 million,” Cr Hain said.

Cr Hain said fuel and takeaway food were expected to be the first outlets and further retail outlets to follow.

“With an overall spend between $70-80 million of new investment into this neighbourhood, it will potentially raise house values, definitely create jobs and create better road connections.”
