A man accused over the alleged murder of another man at a motel north of Brisbane last year has returned to court, as parties in the case endure “quite a wait time” for crucial autopsy reports.
Benjamin Graham Urquhart and a co-accused were charged with the murder of Christopher George Lymar, 48, at a Kallangur motel around midnight on February 12, 2022.
On Thursday, Mr Urquhart’s lawyer, Mark Zellar, told magistrate Annette Hennessy they were still waiting on the victim’s autopsy report.
Ms Hennessy questioned prosecutor Kerri Spicer who said it was “general knowledge that there is quite a wait time” due to delays in receiving autopsy reports.
“I will make some personal inquiries into this matter to try and get a date or an estimate (for the autopsy report),“ Ms Spicer said.
Ms Hennessy said: “These charges have priority”.
February will mark one year in custody for Mr Urquhart.
Mr Lymar was found with injuries to his head and legs, with police stating at the time that several bladed weapons had been found at the scene.
According to his social media accounts, Mr Lymar had worked as a gym instructor and an actor.
The matter was adjourned to March 6 for committal mention due to the expected delays in receiving the autopsy results.
