A new microbrewery, restaurant and bar is coming to Scarborough after plans to give the Waters Edge function centre an upgrade were approved.

The developer hopes the upgrade will attract residents, day trippers and tourists to the Scarborough Boat Harbour.

Waters Edge, a two-storey building, at Bird O’Passage Pde, currently doubles as a seafood manufacturing business and a function centre.

The balcony overlooks the harbour, out to the Glasshouse Mountains.

It is owned by the State Government/Transport and Main Roads but tenant J & S Larson Consulting Pty Ltd were given permission to go ahead with the application in August.

PLANS REVEALED FOR NEW $30M NEWPORT RETAIL HUB

Moreton Bay Regional Council has given the developer permission to transform the food manufacturing business on the lower level into a microbrewery, restaurant and bar.

The microbrewery will be able to produce up to 300,000 litres a year.

New indoor and outdoor dining and drinking areas will be built, along with a brewing room, bar and kitchen area.

The outside of the building will also get a major makeover to increase the streetscape and appeal.

Upstairs will get a minor makeover including a new servery and amenities.

The staircase will be reconfigured to wrap around the front of the building.
