A Moreton Bay business district is set for a boost, with plans lodged for a large childcare centre to cater for over 130 kids.
Children First Property Pty Ltd has lodged a development application to build a childcare centre at 2/8 Cotterell Road and 105 School Road, Kallangur.
The one-storey childcare centre would cater for 132 children up to four years old, within seven separate internal rooms.
With a gross floor area of 1008 sqm, the centre would include large outdoor play areas.
The three dwellings on site would be demolished to make way for the childcare centre, with would open from 6.30am-6.30pm, Monday-Friday and offer 27 car parks.
The site has two street frontages to both School and Cotterell roads, with access proposed from the latter.
“The site forms part of the Kallangur business periphery which is essentially a strip type centre focused along Anzac Avenue, with the Kallangur Fair Shopping Centre anchoring the centre to the east and a variety of smaller properties, malls and tenancies making up the remainder of the centre,” the application reads.
“The site is conveniently located in proximity to a number of local shopping, convenience and services businesses with a range of community facilities nearby.
“It is considered that the subject site is suitable for the development of a Child Care Centre which supports the surrounding residential neighbourhoods and activity centre.
“The development provides a high degree of architectural merit displayed in the built form where presenting to each street frontage and neighbouring residential areas, including an awning structure along the School Road frontage and returning around into Cotterell Road.”
