A Logan man has faced court after he threatened to light his father on fire and threatened to kill a police officer.

Woodridge resident, Hassan Ahmed Mohamed, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 28 to obstructing a police officer, committing a public nuisance and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

The court heard the 30-year-old was at a Woodridge home on December 9 last year when he threatened to kill his own father.

“He has made a threat to light a fire inside the aggrieved’s home and burn him,” police prosecutor Sergeant Kellie Cullen said.

He then threatened the arresting police officer, a court has heard.

“He made threats to police, he was going to get his brother to kill the arresting police officer.”

The court heard Mohamed committed a public nuisance and obstructed police officers on March 29 this year.

On October 6 and November 10, 2021, he was caught in possession of cannabis.

Mohamed’s lawyer, Bettina Webb, said her client used cannabis to deal with his mental health.

“He was diagnosed with drug induced schizophrenia, anxiety, depression,” Ms Webb said.

“He says that cannabis assists him in relaxing.”

Magistrate Mark Howden said his offending was serious.

“You banged on the front door, yelling, you made threats that you were going to break the window and light a fire and burn him,” Mr Howden said.

Mohamed said to the Magistrate he regretted what he had done.

“I love my father so much,” he said.

“I was drunk, I was drunk, I will never ever do that again.

“I never meant to hurt him.”

He was convicted and received an 18-month probation order, with directions to get mental health treatment.
