A Logan plasterer’s alleged brutal bashing of his partner involving a flurry of punches and a tossed snack box, has been revealed.

Teina Taylor, 23, applied for bail in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 1 for one charge of assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence).

The court heard that on July 13 Taylor was leaving the Park Ridge Tavern with his partner and allegedly started abusing her, he said “you’re a stupid b---h, I should punch your head in”.

He then allegedly threw a halal snack pack at his partner in the car and made a mess over the seat before punching her six times in the head.

Police allege he also smacked her head on the car door and threw a mobile phone at her.

Taylor then allegedly reversed the car into a pole during the scuffle.

Taylor told the court he only hit her once and it was not sustained or prolonged.

In response, photos were shown to the court by Magistrate Cameron McKenzie which showed the alleged victim’s face bruised, swollen and bloody.

Taylor replied “It’s just a scratch mate”.

Defence lawyer Zane Chapman told the court Taylor was a father of two and worked as a plasterer.

Mr Chapman said bail could be granted under conditions such as a no-contact order with the aggrieved.

Magistrate McKenzie highlighted Taylor’s eight previous breaches of bail and said it was a very serious alleged assault.

“It was a sustained assault which occurred over a period of time where he repeatedly punched her in the face”, he said.

“I have considered all factors and am not satisfied the defendant has shown cause in order to grant bail.”

Taylor was denied bail and remanded in custody.

The matter will next be mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on August 29.
