A Rochedale South mother with a history of meth use punched and spat on a government officer.

Former retail and hospitality worker Teagen Marie Sturrock, 26, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on December 9, 2022 to three counts of serious assault of a public officer, possession of dangerous drugs and unauthorised dealing with shop goods.

On May 31, 2021, Sturrock punched a female public officer in the nose and mouth with her right fist, causing the victim’s mouth to swell, the court heard.

Sturrock spat in the left eye of another officer and choked him two weeks later on June 14, 2021.

She also used her forearm to push the officer against a wall.

Magistrate Terry Duroux condemned Sturrock’s behaviour and said public officers had a very difficult job.

“The spitting was despicable, humans don’t do that. It will not be tolerated,” he said.

“You became enraged at what occurred, but officers have a difficult job and the courts must take a serious view on this kind of behaviour.”

Sturrock stole $56 worth of shopping goods from Best&Less in Logan Hyperdome on January 20, 2021, the court was told.

Sturrock attempted to purchase $94 with a stolen bank card in Logan Reserve some weeks later in February and was found in possession of half a gram of methamphetamine on July 14, 2021 at Regents Park.

She was sentenced to nine months in prison with an immediate parole release date.

A conviction was recorded.

She was also fined a total of $1500.
