A Logan man has been sentenced after putting the community at risk doing dangerous burnouts and drug driving outside a popular bayside hotel.

Park Ridge resident, James Robert Parslow, 24, pleaded guilty in Cleveland Magistrates Court today, October 13, to one count of drug driving, one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle and one count of driving while under the influence.

The court heard Parslow was caught doing burnouts in a park outside Redland Bay Hotel on March 27.

“You operated a motor vehicle on the Redland Bay hotel grounds,” Magistrate Deborah Vasta said.

“You had meth and cannabis in your saliva, while on your P plates, and you’ve gone and done all these burnouts in the middle of the park in front of everybody.”

On June 19 Parslow was caught driving on Cannes St in Holland Park West with drugs in his system.

“He stated he smoked one and half cones that day,” Crown Prosecutor Emily Ollenburg said.

“Meth and Cannabis was found in his saliva.”

“He is placing other road users at risk.

“The offence at the Redland Bay Hotel did have an impact on the community.”

Magistrate Deborah Vasta said Parslow was lucky witnesses did not attack him.

“You're very lucky the people from the hotel didn’t get their hands on you, they could have bashed you,” Ms Vasta said.

“You’re in a whole world of pain now.

“Doing burnouts in the park outside the Redland Bay Hotel during daylight is just awful behaviour.”

Parslow was convicted and disqualified from driving for six months for dangerous driving.

He was disqualified for three months for drug driving and one month for having meth and cannabis in his saliva.
