A Brisbane mum is concerned for her children’s safety after they woke to find their one-week-old baby lamb grotesquely ripped apart following a vicious attack from a pack of wild dogs.

Samford mum-of-three, Elizabeth Te Kloot, said it was the latest incident in a string of attacks on animals at their Highvale home

“Sadly I am posting again,” she wrote on a community Facebook page.

“For those concerned, (there was a) wild dog attack in Highvale last night (October 7).

“Three large sheep and a week old lamb (were) killed.

“Electrifying the perimeter since our last incident was pointless it seemed, I can’t see how vulnerable animals aren’t sitting ducks.”

The family lost two sheep in July and four in the past few weeks to what they assumed were wild dogs.

“They were killed, one (of them aged)two weeks and one a couple of months old and they were taken, completely decimated last July,” Ms Te Kloot said

“Back in September, they’ve ripped the lamb from her tummy.

“The ripping apart, the intestines were everywhere, it was awful.”

Ms Te Kloot and her husband have tried several tactics to keep their beloved family pets safe.

“It’s so weird because we are so close to the city,” Ms Te Kloot said.

“We’ve changed all the fencing to dog proof, we’ve dog proofed the pens.

“We were thinking that would be enough.”

Other neighbours have reported similar attacks.

“Heaps of people are contacting me saying ‘yep we’ve got ours taken’,” she said.

“I reckon they're happening every few months.”

Ms Te Kloot said the loss of six of their beloved pets have hit their family very hard.

“It makes me emotional,” she said.

“This time it’s the favourites, it’s really hard.

“They’re characters and they're just the funniest animals.

“My husband is emotional just because of how attached the children were to them.

“The hardest part is they don't get to say goodbye when they’re mauled like that.”

Ms Te Kloot said she will not let her children go down to the paddocks unsupervised.

“Now I don’t think I’d let my seven-year-old go down to the paddock alone,” she said.

The family have been working with Moreton Bay Regional Council to eliminate the risk of attacks happening.

“They set up cameras but they couldn’t find anything,” she said.

“I mean, how do you even trap a wild animal?”

The Te Kloot family have decided to temporarily move the four sheep left to keep them safewhile they built a safer enclosure.

She hoped warning other families would help keep them and their pets safe.

“We want to make other people aware,” she said.

“If you think your animals are safe, they're not.”
