A tattooed Logan father charged with supplying drugs did it while he was struggling to make ends meet, a court has heard.
Samuel Leon Hoppe, 27, of Rochedale South, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday to supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and possess utensils or pipes that had been used.
The court heard Hoppe was charged with supplying cannabis in Rochedale South on November 15 last year.
Hoppe’s lawyer said his client was selling cannabis in $50 lots and had made about $300 before police arrested him while he was in possession of just under two ounces of the drug.
“It was exceptionally unsophisticated to try to sell drugs and in small amounts,” he said.
“The Facebook page is some Facebook page people go to when they want to buy drugs … he’s just advertised that he’s selling those amounts of $50 lots, the rest has got nothing whatsoever to do with him.”
The court heard Hoppe had previous convictions for supplying dangerous drugs, the last being in 2015.
Hoppe’s lawyer said his client resorted back to selling drugs during a time when he was out of work and couldn’t make ends meet for his family.
He was sentenced to four months imprisonment suspended for 18 months.
