A Logan concreter caught with cocaine and doing burnouts during Christmas time last year, has faced court for dangerous driving and possession of drugs.

Rohen Henk Blom, 33, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday, September 18 to three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, one count of possession of a dangerous drug and one count of wilfully causing unnecessary smoke or noise.

The court heard the Bahrs Scrub concreter was doing loud burnouts in his orange Datsun on August 28, 2021 in Yatala and January 19 in Slacks Creek.

Blom also drove dangerously on June 21 and December 23, 2022 and Christmas Eve of the same year in Slacks Creek.

The incident in 2021 was the most serious of his offending, where he revved the engine and emitted excessive smoke.

He then did a 360 degree burnout, turned around and did another burnout while the rear passenger was hanging out of the window.

When questioned by police, Blom told them he was testing out his vehicle’s engine.

He was also caught with 4.6g on of cocaine on December 23, last year which he said was for personal use.

Magistrate Terry Duroux scolded Blom’s behaviour and said he was too old to be a hoon.

“You endangered the safety and wellbeing of the passenger and other drivers,” he said.

“The driving is outrageous, you’re a bit old to be a hoon and you just keeps doing this.

“If you lost control of the vehicle, the person with their head out of the window would have died.”

Magistrate Duroux said Blom’s showboating was unacceptable and needed to be punished.

“Your behaviour was nothing short of disgraceful, you had no respect or care for other drivers and just wanted to put on a show for everybody.

“I don’t know who you were trying to impress but you didn’t impress this court.”

Blom was sentenced to four months prison, wholly suspended for 12 months and placed on a probation order.

His driver’s licence was disqualified for seven months and he was fined $500.
