A dad caught selling drugs blamed personal issues including the loss of his mum and a relationship breakdown for his descent into criminal behaviour, but a judge has told him he is only compounding his suffering.

Robert Shane Griffin, 54, pleaded guilty to 21 charges of supplying dangerous drugs in district court at Beenleigh on Monday.

The court heard police conducted a search of his residence at Browns Plains and located a number of items including a “tick sheet” with clients numbers, three glass pipes and a mobile phone on August 14, 2020.

Following an analysis of the phone, police identified numerous text messages that revealed occasions when Griffin had supplied or offered to supply methamphetamine, cannabis and MDMA to others.

The court heard the majority of the sales were for methamphetamine and he supplied amounts ranging from $100 to $600 worth.

The messages shows he supplied drugs to six people spanning over a period of about four months from March to July 2020.

He exchanged text messages with an unknown person who asked him if he could “get more white instead of green tonight” on July 24, 2020.

Griffin replied saying that he would “be there in 30 minutes with MDMA and ice baby.”

Judge Craig Chowdhury noted that the 54-year-old had a history of drug-related offending.

“Methamphetamine is a particularly nasty drug,” he said.

“Its responsible for a lot of violent offences that come before the courts in particular murders and other homicides and therefore it is particularly concerning that you were supplying that drug.

“It is equally concerning of course you were able to source and supply a cocktail of drugs with not just methamphetamine but also cannabis and MDMA.”

“You’re just spreading the misery.

“You yourself have been addicted to drugs in the past.”

Griffin’s lawyer told the court he had stop using drugs for the last year.

He said his client had been struggling since his mother died in 2013 and he separated from his partner in 2019 but they have since gotten back together.

Griffin was sentenced to 15 month suspended sentence for an operational period of two years.
