A four-year-old girl was flashed by a Logan man during an erratic, wild dispute on a street which ended in him obstructing police, a court has heard.
Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday, December 5, that Reuben James Cross got into a heated argument with another person on July 11 in Logan. Threats were made, the court heard.
During the argument, the 44-year-old pulled down his pants and exposed his penis to a four-year-old girl standing nearby, the court was told.
Police were called but Cross resisted arrest before telling them to “f*** off”.
Cross pleaded guilty to one count of wilful exposure, obstructing a police officer and breaching a probation order.
The court heard that on September 3 he breached his probation order and was sentenced for public nuisance.
Cross also threatened to stab a man in the throat with pliers in 2021.
Defence lawyer David Gilmore said Cross had struggled with anxiety but knew what was required to avoid any more run-ins with the law.
“He’s had difficulty with anxiety but he is now motivated and knows what he needs to do to stay out of trouble,” he said.
“In this instance on July 11 there was no violence or threats.”
Magistrate Mark Howden said he was concerned about Cross’ behaviour.
“There seems to be a pattern of behaviour of losing his temper and acting out, particularly with police,” Mr Howden said.
“Your probation was very unsuccessful last time and you behaved poorly when police tried to exercise their duties.
“You cannot behave like this, otherwise the court has no option.”
Cross was sentenced to three months’ prison, wholly suspended for one year. he was fined $500.
