‘Hockey stick and balaclavas’: Three alleged break ins in 24 hours on same Logan street

Footage has emerged of three people in balaclavas, carrying a hockey stick, allegedly breaking into a Logan home overnight on October 22.

Police are investigating an incident at 10.15pm on Sunday October 22 in which a person allegedly broke into a home on Anakie Drive, Cornubia.

The residents were asleep when an intruder damaged the door, broke in and used the torch on their phone to search the property, police would allege.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said the owners woke up and found the person in their living room before they fled.

About 15 minutes later and 400m away on the same street, three people wearing balaclavas and armed with a hockey stick allegedly tried to break into a Meown Ct house.

CCTV footage showed the three people trying to enter the home from different areas.

Resident Ryan Tyrell said he was relaxing at home at the time.

“I was watching TV and noticed the security camera notifications went off,” he said.

“They tried to open the front door then the side doors but they were all locked, the security lights went off and they probably noticed the cameras so they left and drove off.

“Police arrived about 20 to 30 minutes later.”

Police are still investigating. They were not yet sure if the two incidents were connected.

A separate address in Cornubia was broken into on Saturday night.

Police believe it was most likely unrelated to the incidents on Sunday night.
