A former McDonald’s worker from the Gold Coast who had fantasies about beheading his mother and two younger brothers has been jailed after a series of chilling crimes.

The ex-Mcdonald’s employee pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, June 16, to two contraventions of a domestic violence order.

The 28-year-old was at his mother’s house in Ormeau between February 5 and March 15, 2022 when he became aggressive, verbally abusing her and damaging the property, the court heard.

“You acted very poorly against your mother, calling her derogative names,” Magistrate Clare Kelly said.

“You caused physical damage to walls of the house and doors, your mother had to make action and lock the herself and your brothers in the bedroom for safety.”

The court heard the man said he thought of methods to end his own family members’ lives.

“You told your mother you fantasised about beheading her and your two brothers,” Magistrate Kelly said.

“Saying she would be dead before you went back to jail.”

The court heard the Ormeau man was a repeat offender with 17 prior convictions of contravening a DV order.

His lawyer, Ms Vered Turner, said her client had a history of mental health issues, largely involving the confusion surrounding his gender identity and sexual orientation.

“He began dressing in female clothes and has thoughts of being a woman, but is not sure, and as so, turns to alcohol,” Ms Turner said.

“He was bullied in high school for being a homosexual.

“He started smoking too much marijuana and started drinking heavily.”

Ms Turner said her client was regretful for his actions and wanted to seek mental help.

“He is very remorseful, he never meant the things that he said, he just wanted to show his mother how mentally ill he was,” Miss Turner said.

“I want to go to a hospital to get on medication and to see someone,” the man said.

“I’ll do anything.”

The Ormeau man was convicted and received 18 months imprisonment with a parole eligibility date of August 14.
