A Loganholme cafe owner has been brought before the courts after she was caught out by police driving with the party drug MDMA in her system.
Nicole Julia Lynch, 39, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday to driving while a relevant drug is present in blood or saliva.
The court heard she was intercepted for a roadside breath test along on Queen Elizabeth Drive, Berserker on April 4, 2021.
Her saliva test returned a positive result for the presence of MDMA and she was issued a notice to appear.
Magistrate Terry Duroux said Lynch had an “unremarkable” traffic history.
“Drugs that you consume can stay in your saliva for a significant period of time, sometimes days and weeks after,” he said.
She was convicted of the charge and ordered to pay a fine of $400 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a drivers licence for two weeks.
The magistrate directed that a restricted licence be issued to Lynch authorising her to drive in her occupation as a cafe owner.
