A young Logan father’s attempt to visit an ill family member has landed him in court and facing jail time, after he drove without a licence seven times over a five-day period.

Nash William Duxbury, 26, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday, September 29 to seven counts of driving without a licence.

The court heard that police searched Duxbury’s home for unrelated matters and found footage of him driving and returning home seven times between April 1 and 5.

His licence has been previously disqualified on November 4, 2022 for six months.

The court heard the Marsden father of three was visiting a sick family member and buying items from a supermarket and that was why he drove illegally.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Donna Cole said the circumstances surrounding the offending was odd.

“It is a very unusual situation,” she said.

“It is very condensed offending but a large number of offences.”

Duxbury previously worked in construction and fencing and held certificates in traffic control, safety and floor sanding.

Magistrate Tracy Mossop said the behaviour was concerning and unwise.

“This was very, very silly of you,” she said.

“You clearly thought you were getting away with it and don’t have the right people around you who can protect you from yourself.

“Most people go to jail and serve actual jail time for this.

“You’ve just got to make better decisions.”

Duxbury was sentenced to six months prison, wholly suspended for 18 months.

His licence was also disqualified for two years.
