A man who died in hospital after suffering head injuries during an alleged attack at a Logan home last month, has been revealed.

Alan Richard Hodges, 61, died overnight at the Princess Alexandra Hospital following an alleged attack at a property on Stoney Camp Road, Park Ridge South on September 29.

It is alleged he was the victim of what police described as an ‘abhorrent attack of violence’ after working as a handyman for the accused attacker, Park Ridge South man Daniel James Martin, 33.

Mr Martin was previously charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday, September 30 however it is now understood his charges are likely to be upgraded following the death.

Previously, Brisbane Magistrates Court heard the alleged victim, aged 61, went to Martin’s Park Ridge South home on Friday, September 29 to do some work.

Police prosecutor Tahlia Boettcher said at the time a “consensual” fight broke out.

“That consensual fight is probably quite heated giving consideration to the (alleged) fact that the victim has had to grab the defendant’s neck and testicles whilst keeping a grip on them,” she said.

Police will allege that when Mr Martin, who has no criminal history, entered the Stony Camp Rd home he attacked the 61-year-old man, punching him and causing him to fall and hit his head.

Emergency crews were called at about 7.30pm following reports a man had been struck in the head, causing him to fall to the ground, where he was then allegedly struck multiple times.

Upon arrival, the 61-year-old Park Ridge man was found with serious injuries.

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital and later died on October 10.

Mr Martin is due to reappear at Beaudesert Magistrates Court on November 28.
