Police said the motorcyclist who has been left critically injured after colliding with a car at Loganholme on Wednesday morning was allegedly driving recklessly in the lead up to the incident.

Police are investigating after four people were hospitalised in a crash involving a motorbike and car outside a school in Logan yesterday morning.

A 28-year-old motorbike rider remains in a critical condition with head injuries after his Kawasaki motorbike collided with a 2003 Nissan Pulsar outside St Matthew’s Catholic Primary School at Loganholme about 8.45am.

The rider also lost a finger in the crash.

It is understood the motorbike rider was allegedly speeding, had run several red lights, and was driving without his hands on the handlebars in the lead-up to the impact.

Police said early investigations indicated that the Tingalpa rider was travelling eastbound along Bryants Rd when he hit a gold sedan as it turned onto Torres Street at St Matthew’s Catholic Primary school.

Critical care paramedics treated the rider, who sustained significant head injuries, multiple fractures, internal damage, and lost a finger.

He was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition and underwent emergency surgery for his head injuries.

It is understood he is still in ICU in a critical condition, fighting for his life.

The 17-year-old female driver of the Nissan was on her learner’s license, and had a 59-year-old man accompanying her in the passenger seat, and a 15-year-old female passenger in the back seat.

All three received minor injuries and have been experiencing emotional distress.

They were transported to Logan Hospital for treatment, but have since been released.

The Forensic Crash Unit appealed to any witnesses or anyone who may have captured dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

Police investigations continue, and no charges have been laid.
