A meeting between a Logan woman, her husband and his new girlfriend ended with the new partner being bashed in a car.

Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard on Friday, August 18 that Michelle Lee Spicer was meeting her husband at Slacks Creek to discuss a family matter.

The 34-year-old mother of four was confronted about the matter on March 31 by her husband’s new girlfriend.

The encounter resulted in a fiery exchange of words between the two.

The court heard that at one point Spicer, from Kingston, put her hand over the woman’s mouth to stop her “putting her two cents in”.

The new girlfriend eventually went to leave and was getting into her car when Spicer ran at her and grabbed her through the car.

She pulled her down and started punching her, then punched at the window as the car drove away.

The 34-year-old victim sustained cuts and abrasions to her arms and legs, which were defensive injuries from holding her hands up to protect herself, the court heard.

Defence lawyer Zane Chapman said Spicer thought the husband was flaunting his new girlfriend in front of her, which was why she became violent.

She pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The court heard Spicer had a diploma in business and worked as a mental health support officer.

She had no criminal history before the incident.

Magistrate Tracy Mossop said violence was never the answer and could have disastrous, unintended consequences.

“Two wrongs don’t make a right. You let your emotions get the better of you,” she said.

“When somebody gets physical you don’t know what the outcome will be.”

Spicer was fined $1000. No conviction was recorded.
