A woman’s wild brawl with security in a Logan shopping centre over a stealing spree has landed her in court and facing jail time.

A woman’s wild brawl with security in a Logan shopping centre over a stealing spree has landed her in court and facing jail time.

Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard on Monday (May 8) that Lynette McGuinness, 22, got into an argument with a security guard who accused her of stealing.

She swung a punch at him during the incident n September 26 last year, but missed.

She then swung two more times before being restrained on the ground and yelling abuse.

The court heard the Woodridge woman had previously stolen alcohol from Dan Murphy’s and more than $400 worth of groceries from Woolworths.

Two months earlier, she had a violent encounter at a Logan train station where she crossed the road and punched a woman in the back of the head.

McGuinness also entered a person’s Mitsubishi Lancer and stole money from inside.

Another time she used a stolen credit card to make Paywave transactions.

McGuiness pleaded guilty to common assault, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, unauthorised dealing with shop goods and fraud.

Magistrate Terry Duroux said such offences were too common in the Logan community.

“There seems to be a lot of this offending happening in the community, where people go into shops and walk out without paying,” he said.

“You get the benefit of being a youthful offender one last time and hopefully your prospects of rehabilitation remain high.”

McGuinness was sentenced to one year in prison and released immediately on parole.

She was ordered to pay $1287 in restitution.
