A trio’s plan to get revenge on a man they lured to a Logan park ended with the victim being stabbed.

Isaac Peter Gordon Sands, 24, stabbed the man twice in the chest and thigh after fighting with him in the park, Beenleigh District Court heard on Thursday (May 4).

Sands was one of three people who lured the victim to the Jimboomba park on July 21 last year in an act of violent revenge.

The victim was the ex-partner of one of the female members of the trio.

The court heard she sexted with the victim, in order to get him to come to the park.

After he arrived Sands set upon him and threatened him.

“Do you want a cigarette? Do you want to be stabbed?” Sands said to the man.

The man then punched Sands in the face and a fight broke out in which Sands used a knife and stabbed him twice, the court was told.

The court heard the victim ran to a nearby McDonald’s and was taken to hospital.

“He took a knife to what was otherwise a fist fight”, defence lawyer Jack Kennedy said.

Sands, from Jimboomba, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm while armed.

The two other co-accused were charged but have not yet been sentenced.

Prosecutor Aden Tranent said it would have been a frightening experience for the victim.

“It was a calculated, premeditated assault and Sands was the main inflictor of violence,” he said.

The court heard Sands had a serious criminal history of violence.

Judge Brian Devereaux said the charge was very serious.

“You took a knife for the purpose of attacking somebody,” he said.

Sands was sentenced to 15 months’ jail. He was given immediate parole eligibility after serving 40 days in pre-sentence custody.
