A Logan mum has faced court on numerous charges linked to her late criminal partner, who died in a motorcycle accident earlier this year.

Meg Cant, 32 of Browns Plains, pleaded guilty to 10 charges in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday, July 22, 2022.

The court heard she was on parole when she committed the offences, having been released from prison a couple of months earlier.

Cant appeared before court with a five-page criminal history including similar offences and drug offences. The court heard she had her four children, aged from seven to 12 years old.

Despite her best efforts Cant had also struggled to find a job since getting out of jail last year.

Cant was charged with two counts of receiving tainted property, stolen number plates, and three counts of unlawfully possessing motor vehicles, stolen cars, and one charge of unlawful possession of stolen property, on January 2, 2022 at Browns Plains.

The court heard she did not steal them herself, but rather her late partner Dylan Brennan did.

Then on February 14 this year, the day before her partner died in a motorcycle accident, Cant was charged with driving without a license disqualified by a court order and possessing tainted property at Beenleigh.

On March 22 this year at Eagleby, Cant was charged with possessing tainted property and the unlawful possession of motor vehicles.

The court heard Cant was going through a rough patch at the time of her offending after her partner died in a motorcycle crash on February 15 at Boronia Heights. Her brother also died a few days after Brennan’s death.

The court heard it was Brennan who was responsible for stealing the various cars and number plates Cant unlawfully had in her possession.

For unlawfully possessing motor vehicles Cant was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, for driving while disqualified she was sentenced to nine months imprisonment, and on all other charges she was sentenced to two months imprisonment.

Cant was disqualified from driving for three years.

Convictions were recorded and her parole eligibility date was set at September 22, 2022.
