A young FIFO working dad has been sentenced in a court north of Brisbane after a spate of risky driving offences.

Jamie Michael Shanley, 31 of Strathpine, pleaded guilty to drug driving and three other charges at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

The court heard Shanley was pulled over by police and found to be driving with a drug in his system on March 12, 2022, at Griffin this year.

Then in Brendale on April 24, 2022, he was charged with driving a motorbike without a licence, dangerous operation of a motorbike, and driving an unregistered motorbike on the road.

The court heard Shanley had one child with his ex-partner and that he had been his daughter’s full-time carer for four years.

The court heard Shanley had worked as a concreter and had most recently acquired a new FIFO job where he earned $130,000 a year.

The court heard even if a conviction was recorded he would not lose his new job where he was subjected to daily drug tests.

Shanley’s lawyer told the court he had difficulty learning at school and was diagnosed with ADHD.

Shanley was convicted of all charges, fined $2350 and disqualified from driving for 15 months. No convictions were recorded.
