A Logan mechanic has been jailed for bashing his teenage daughter because she’d told him she was planning to meet a boy at the local library, with the entire incident being captured on camera.

A Logan mechanic’s shocking bashing of his own daughter has been revealed in court, as the man was jailed for the assault of the teen.
The man, who cannot be named, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh District Court on May 21 to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence).
The court heard that in 2022, the mechanic’s teen daughter was planning to leave the house and go to the library.
When the Logan Central man asked his daughter who she was going with, she responded by telling him she was meeting a boy.
The court heard the defendant was infuriated his daughter was meeting a boy rather than studying and he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her.
The assault was captured on camera by CCTV footage, which was played to the court during the sentence.
CCTV footage showed him choking and pushing her across the room, through loud, muffled screams.
The teen girl suffered a bruised neck as a result of the attack.
Defence barrister Michael Nicolson said his client had no criminal history and was now on good terms with his family.
Mr Nicholson said his client had suffered medical issues meaning he “was not himself at the time of the offence”.
“He’s obviously learnt his lesson and was deeply ashamed of his actions,” Mr Nicholson said.
“He was the sole breadwinner of the family”.
The court heard the Logan Central man had served 111 days of pre-sentence custody and worked as a mechanic in Logan.
Judge Craig Chowdhury sentenced him to 111 days prison and released him immediately.
“You wanted your daughter to study rather than spend time with a boy,” he said.
“I acknowledge you have an excellent work history and accept your early plea of guilty.”
