A Logan man has faced court after creating dozens of fake social media accounts under his ex’s and her children’s name to share disturbing photos not only to her, but her grandpa figure.

A court has heard how a Logan man created dozens of profiles in his former partner and her children’s names, posting hundreds of nude photos to social media and explicit websites.

A 38-year-old Kingston resident pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 18, to one count of contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically, unlawful stalking and using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

The court heard he spent April to June of 2020, creating dozens of fake profiles under the name of his former partner or her children, where he shared her private nude photos on websites, in community pages and on social media.

“Police found Facebook accounts in the notes section of his phone, there were six different email addresses used,” the police prosecutor said.

“They also located a HP Laptop, police cited multiple websites, including WIX.com with the name of the victim and photos of her.

“There were web links to dozens of websites, including Soundcloud, Pornhub, Instagram, Facebook.”

The man was also charged after sending a picture of a penis to the victim’s grandfather with the victim’s name written on it.

He was charged after emailing the victim constantly threatening her and failing to appear in court.

When confronted by police after a search warrant was executed on June 17, the man said he had issues.

“It’s all on the laptop, I think I’ve got problems,” he said.

A victim impact statement read by the prosecutor to the court revealed what the man’s ex-partner felt after discovering the accounts.

“She (the victim) begged him to take them down and asked if he was happy that he was going to ruin her life,’” the prosecutor said.

“He replied with ‘ruining is an understatement, just wait (until) the end of your walk’.

“She began to feel extremely panicked and sought out ways to get (the posts and pages) removed.

“She constantly found profiles of her and her children’s names as her profile lines and pages.

“She said to see my children’s name attached to those makes me sick to my stomach.

“She said he had intent to ruin me as a human being.”

“From the words of the victim it reads: I could no longer eat, I could no longer sleep, I felt helpless, I felt under attack, What the defendant chose to do to me was relentless.”

“She has nightmares too often to count and can still not stomach food as much.”

The man, who was self represented, said he regretted his actions.

“I f**ked up, I don't know what else to say,” he said.

Magistrate Patrina Clohessy said the offences were “disturbing”.

“Your conduct can be described as vicious and deliberate conduct directed at the aggrieved,” she said.

“You uploaded videos and photos that had been provided to you in the context of an intimate relationship.

“You decided to deliberately set out to what the victim described as destroying her life and destroying her as a human.

“It had the impact on strangers contacting her because the media had been uploaded on several websites and porn sites.”

The man was given a sentence of 12 months with his 48 days in pre-sentence custody declared as time served, with immediate parole release.

Convictions were recorded.
