A fitness influencer and personal trainer with a taste for the high life has switched the gym for a courtroom as her horrendous traffic history was revealed.
Hillcrest’s Jacinda Maree Sharkey fronted Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, January 13, to submit an application for a special hardship order to allow her to have a licence for work purposes.
The court heard the 25-year-old had several speeding infringements, along with a mobile phone infringement and failing to stop at a red light.
Ms Sharkey’s lawyer, Mr Choy, said his client had been speeding because she was late to work travelling from the Gold Coast to Brisbane.
“She is a fit and proper person, your honour,” he said.
Magistrate Michael O‘Driscoll said Ms Sharkey’s traffic history was a concern.
“I don’t know if you had considered what would happen if you had a motor vehicle accident driving a motor vehicle while on your phone and speeding, how that would have affected your profession,” he said.
“You could have suffered a loss of a limb or some other issue and then obviously your employment would not be so successful.
“You say in your affidavit that you’ve changed.”
Ms Sharkey, who is a popular influencer with more than 60,000 followers on Instagram, was granted a special hardship and was granted a work licence for eight months.
