EMBATTLED Kimberley College is looking for a new principal - and one who can add up.
The board of Kimberley College, that sensationally sacked former principal Paul Thomson in June over claims of financial mismanagement which he strongly denies, has begun recruitment for a new principal online.
The job description states that an essential characteristic of candidate should be “sound knowledge of the governance and financial structures of an independent school.”
The ad said that the successful candidate is “expected to take up duty in January 2019 or earlier by negotiation”.
Board chair Paul Wilton announced that recruitment had begun in a letter to parents and staff and assured the community that the spirit of the school would not change.
“It is important to note that the Board is seeking a Principal who will work to maintain the ethos, values and traditions of the College as developed over its history,” Mr Wilton wrote.
“The unique curriculum and teaching structures are not changing.”
The advertisement said the new principal will be responsible for educational leadership of 860 students, enrolment and financial management of the college.
The position is offered for a period of five years.
The ad also said the principal would need to work with the board to help implement the findings of a “significant governance review” when it is released by the Board’s legal advisers, MinterEllison.
Last month, four new teachers were employed at the embattled college including two science and maths teachers along with a head of teaching and learning and a new head of special education.
The college has about 90 staff in total.
