FOUR new teachers have been employed at the embattled Kimberley College just months after allegations of financial mismanagement and nepotism rocked the school.

Two science and maths teachers along with a head of teaching and learning and a new head of special education have been employed.

Adviser to Kimberley College’s board Mike Millard said everyone wanted the school to be successful.

“Our admin staff are working hard to get the school back on track and operating normally,” he said.

“The teachers are focusing on students and delivering the best possible learning outcomes.”

It joins news that the school was also updating staff files, sorting through enrolment applications and enquiries for future places and setting up a first aid area and sickbay room with a trained first aid officer.

The Courier-Mail revealed last month that former principal Paul Thomson and three of his family members were sacked from the college.

The four family members were issued letters regarding their termination in June from the board of the private school south of Brisbane. It followed concerns about the school’s finances.

Mr Thompson and his family have denied any wrongdoing.
