Joshua William Pavicic, 51, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with four counts of serious assault of a police officer causing bodily harm and one count each of wilful damage and obstructing police.

The court heard Pavicic, who operates a water filtration business, became very aggressive when police attended his home in Beenleigh in relation to another matter on December 6, 2021.

The 51-year-old jumped onto the veranda and threatened to jump if the police didn’t do as he asked before he seriously assaulted four officers.

The court heard he struck a female officer to the side of the face, which left her with a cut inside her mount and swelling.

Another female officer was also assaulted and left with grazing and bruising on her arm, and another male officer was assaulted to the back of the head.

The court heard Pavicic also punched a male police officer in the right eye, which left him with a cut and damaged his sunglasses in the process.

Pavicic’s lawyer told the court the offending occurred while his client was going through a manic episode and he’d been living with an untreated bipolar disorder.

He was sentenced to four months imprisonment suspended for six months. The 66 days he spent in pre-sentence custody was declared time served.

Pavicic was ordered to pay $250 each in compensation to the four police officers he assaulted, along with an additional $200 to the officer whose sunglasses were broken.
