A young truck driver from Logan who was busted with more than 4kg of drugs in vacuum-sealed bags has been sentenced in court.

A young truck driver from Logan has landed in court after police busted him with more than four kilograms of drugs in vacuum-sealed bags stashed in his car.

David Cuong Nguyen, 25, of Park Ridge, pleaded guilty in district court at Beenleigh on Wednesday to possessing dangerous drugs, failing to comply with orders and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

The court heard that police executed a search warrant at Nguyen’s home at Park Ridge and found a large quantity of drugs on February 20, 2020.

Upon searching a car, cops found nine vacuum sealed bags of cannabis weighing a total of 4.07 kilograms which was seized.

Police searched Nguyen’s bedroom and found three mobile phones but he refused to provide the pass codes to allow authorities access.

Various clip seal bags, vacuum sealed bags and digital scales were also found hidden in his bed frame.

Nguyen’s lawyer said his client acknowledged that there was a commercial element to his possession of the drugs.

He said Nguyen started using cannabis at about 17 years old but could not say whether he was addicted instead that he did develop a long term habit.

Nguyen’s lawyer said his client had since distanced himself from bad company and was n assisting his partner with raising her two young cousins.

He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for two years and placed on a two-year good behaviour bond with a recognisance of $1000.
