Police arrived to a horrific scene in Tambourine Mountain when they saw ‘c***’ written in blood on the wall of a woman’s home after a terrifying, violent altercation with his ex-wife.

Jamie Gunnell, 39, from Beenleigh, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 17 to common assault and wilful damage (domestic violence offences).

The court heard Gunnell was at his ex-wife’s home on September 17, 2022.

He confronted her over texting a new partner and called her a “whore” repeatedly.

She told Gunnell to stop disrespecting her and said he was no longer welcome at the home.

The court heard the victim thought Gunnell was going to headbutt her and he then stole her phone and smashed it on the floor.

He pushed her on the bed, grabbed her arm, twisted it behind her back.

After releasing her, he blocked her exit and followed her around the house while heavily intoxicated.

She then jumped over the back fence and entered the neighbour’s house, where she called police.

Police arrived at the victim’s home and saw ‘c***’ written in blood on the wall.

Magistrate Terry Duroux said domestic violence offending like this required a custodial sentence.

“This is serious offending and alarming behaviour,” he said.

Gunnell was sentenced to six months in prison with an immediate parole release date. He had served 60 days already in pre-sentence custody.
