Jack David Gavin Orr, 28, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday to one count of stealing.

The court heard the father of one was caught on CCTV stealing an inflatable spa worth $499 from Aldi at Shailer Park on January 11.

Police located Orr at a residence in Tanah Merah the following day where they also found the stolen inflatable spa set up in the front patio area of the unit.

Orr’s lawyer said her client took the spa because his partner wanted it and wanted to return it when they were confronted by staff in the store but his partner became upset.

“He’s certainly remorseful,” she said.

“He co-operated with police and made full and frank admissions to police.”

He was sentenced to six months imprisonment with an immediate parole release date and the three days he spent in pre-sentence custody marked as time served.
