A Logan man charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a 17-year-old boy in the chest has fronted court.
Heritage Park man Joseph Matthew Koplick, 22, appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court Friday, September 9, charged with one count of attempted murder and one unlawful possession of a category D/H/R firearm weapon.
It is understood gunshots were heard at a Waterford West address in the early hours of Wednesday this week, where it is reported a family lived.
Neighbours reported two loud gunshots heard in the early hours of the morning.
Police detectives declared a grey Subaru hatchback located in Marsden a crime scene Thursday.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Brendan Blyth addressed media at Logan Police Station after the shooting, revealing investigators believed the victim and shooter may have been friends at the time.
The 17-year-old victim is currently in a critical but stable condition at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Mr Koplick pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 9, to possession of dangerous drugs.
He was as a result remanded in custody.
Mr Koplick’s lawyer, Daniel Hannay, said Mr Koplick would not be applying for bail.
Mr Koplick was remanded in custody and will appear, represented by his lawyer, at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 18 this year for committal mention.
