Police have charged a man after a shocking alleged stabbing on a suburban street south of Brisbane which left another man fighting for his life.

A 20-year-old man was arrested after Logan detectives executed a search warrant at his Heathwood address yesterday following the alleged stabbing at Loganlea on December 27.

It is alleged the man was involved in an altercation with a 21-year-old man and his partner in the middle of the road on Packett Crescent at 9.15pm, where he allegedly stabbed the couple with a knife.

The male victim was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital and is in a critical but stable condition.

The man was charged with grievous bodily harm, wounding and robbery in company.

His bail has been refused and he will face Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are ongoing.
