Man and partner taken to Logan hospital after Packett Crescent stabbing

A pool of blood has been left on a suburban street south of Brisbane after a stabbing left two people hospitalised and one injured man on the run as new chilling details are revealed.

A man is fighting for his life after a stabbing on a suburban street south of Brisbane left two people hospitalised and one injured man on the run.

The 21-year-old man and his partner were involved in an altercation with another person in the middle of the road on Packett Crescent, where they were both stabbed at 9:15pm Tuesday.

The man was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital and is in a critical condition in the intensive care unit.

His partner was also stabbed, suffering minor wounds and has since been discharged from the Logan Hospital.

Police Detective Inspector of Logan District, Chris Knight, said the three people involved did not live in the area.

“Upon our arrival there was a male person found beside the roadway with a significant knife injury that was assessed as life threatening,” Inspector Knight said.

“A female was also located with a less severe knife injury.

“We don’t believe the person responsible for inflicting the injuries, nor the injured parties, are from this street, but they may be local to the area.

“We also believe that one of the male suspects has received potentially a significant knife wound himself.

“We don’t know who that individual is at this time but we would encourage the individual to seek medical treatment.

“There is significant blood loss that has been identified and recovered from the crime scene.”

“We have grave concerns for that individual’s wellbeing.”

The man believed to be responsible for the stabbing fled in a dark coloured Sedan.

“We know that they met here and it was prearranged,” Inspector Knight said.

Residents described Packett Cres street as quiet.

“I never would have thought it would happen here,” Alex, who lives on the street, said.

Nearby resident Cooper Hair said his first thought made his blood run cold.

“My first thought was murder,” Mr Hair said.

“There was a woman who screamed, but I had earphones in,” he said.

Another resident of the street reported hearing cries for help.

“I heard a scream, a woman yelling for help,” the neighbour said.

Inspector Knight said anyone with information is encouraged to come forward and report to police.

“Any violence of this sort in a public area is a concern for everybody,” he said.

“It’s certainly not a random attack.

“It should never happen, it was certainly out of character for this area.

“Anybody that may have been passing through here at around 9pm to 10pm that may have dashcam footage please come forward and contact police.”
